Beschreibung
Als der griechische Astrophysiker Fanis (Georges Corraface) erfährt, dass sein Großvater Vassilis (Tasos Bandis) erkrankt ist, macht er sich auf eine letzte Reise zu ihm in seine alte Heimat Istanbul.
Dort hatte ihm der Großvater vor Jahrzehnten anhand von Gewürzen erste Lektionen in Astronomie erteilte und deren magische und heilende Fähigkeiten erklärt. Die Idylle zerbrach jedoch, als die Türken 1964 die Griechen zwangen, das Land innerhalb einer Woche zu verlassen, und Fanis mit seiner Familie nach Griechenland ziehen musste.
"Zimt und Koriander" ist eine nostalgische, gemächliche Erzählung voller Gefühl und Stolz auf die eigenen Wurzeln. Humor, Sensibilität, charismatische Darsteller und eine kleine Prise Romantik sind die schmackhaften Zutaten der sinnlichen und bitter-süßen Komödie des griechischen Regisseurs Tassos Boulmetis.
Basierend auf eigenen Erfahrungen strukturiert Boulmetis, der 1957 in Konstantinopel geboren wurde und in Athen Physik studierte, den Film wie ein kulinarisches Menü mit Vorspeise, Hauptgericht und Nachspeise.
