Good Night, and Good Luck

Er empfindet sich als "stolzer Liberaler", auch wenn das in USA als Schimpfwort gilt, und steht für die neue Politisierung des US-Kinos: sexy George Clooney. Seine zweite brillante Regiearbeit spielt im Jahre 1953, die Zeit des kalten Krieges und des Scharfmachers Joseph McCarthy. Der riecht überall kommunistische Verschwörungen, vor allem in den Medien.
Ins Fadenkreuz der Hetzjagd gerät Moderator Edward Murrow (David Strathairn), der in der Live-Sendung "See It Now" die Methoden McCarthys unter die Lupe nimmt und Fakten recherchiert, die den nach außen so korrekten Senator mit nicht ganz weißer Weste zeigen. Am Sendungsende verabschiedet er sich mit dem Wunsch "Good Night, and Good Luck".
Hier geht es um Zivilcourage, den Mut, sich gegen politischen Druck zu wenden, nicht mundtot machen zu lassen. In großartigem Schwarz-Weiss erzählt der Film mit Clooney als Regisseur, Drehbuchautor und in der Rolle des engagierten Fernsehproduzenten, der zu seinem Reporter hält, vom Kampf um Meinungsfreiheit und Journalistenehre.
Da sitzt jedes Wort, nicht nur vor der Kamera, sondern auch bei Whiskey und Zigarren unter Männern in der schummrigen Bar. Weiter so, Mr. Clooney.
