Beschreibung
Der Sizilianer Tony Arzenta lebt in Mailand und ist der Profi-Killer einer mächtigen internationalen Verbrecherorganisation. Noch am Geburtstag seines einzigen Sohnes erledigt Tony den letzten Job, denn er will aussteigen. Als er das Syndikat bittet diese Entscheidung zu akzeptieren, stößt er auf erwartete Ablehnung. Die Organisation duldet keine Aussteiger und versucht ihn darauf umzubringen. Bei einem Anschlag sterben Arzentas Kind und seine Frau. Tony sinnt auf Rache. Mit Hilfe von Freunden gelingt es ihm unterzutauchen. Er beginnt einen blutigen Feldzug und tötet Bosse und Helfershelfer in ganz Europa. Nach all dem Morden, ist er müde und will Frieden finden. Der Boss Nick Gusto bittet ihn um ein Treffen und sichert ihm Unversehrtheit zu. Arzenta traut ihm und begibt sich in tödliche Gefahr... Und es ist auch der mit Sicherheit schwärzeste Film des Genres, spielt er doch in einer Welt, die komplett eingenebelt von Hoffnungslosigkeit und Abgestumpftheit ist. Was seinerzeit als einer von vielen blutigen Krimis auf dem Index landete und aus den Kinos und aus der Erinnerung schnell verschwand, ist heute ein Meisterwerk, das mehr über die Mechanismen seiner Zeit verrät als manch ein weichgespülter Hollywoodfilm jener Epoche.
